Many people say they would believe if God would only show them a sign. That request is not new — it was made to the face of Jesus Christ, and He answered it. These lessons walk through what He said to a generation demanding proof, and where faith actually comes from.
Matthew 12:41–42
Nineveh received one reluctant sermon and repented; the queen of the south crossed a great distance to hear Solomon's wisdom. Jesus set their response beside people who possessed abundant religious privilege yet still refused the One greater than Jonah and Solomon. This lesson asks whether nearness to church and Scripture has quietly taken the place of actually knowing Christ. Religious activity is not proof that a relationship ever existed.
Matthew 12:38–39
The scribes and Pharisees had watched Jesus work miracle after miracle — and still they demanded a sign. In this first lesson of A Sign For All Time, Brother Senior opens Matthew 12 and shows what sign-seeking really reveals: not a lack of proof, but a divided heart. When we tell God "if You'll just do this, then I'll believe," that isn't faith — it's negotiation. And the one sign God promised — the resurrection of His Son — is more than enough.
Matthew 12:40
Jesus did not leave His resurrection as a vague hope; He named the sign in advance. Paul later delivered the gospel as a fixed historical claim: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the scriptures. He named living eyewitnesses so the claim could be examined rather than accepted blindly. If Christ is not raised, preaching and faith are empty—but if He rose, everything changes.
